Southwest Farmer’s Market Opens in Southwest Atlanta

Published in The Sun on July 19, 1990, this article documents the opening of the Southwest Farmer’s Market at 3788 Campbellton Road in southwest Atlanta. The market was co-owned by William Stewart and Michael Bullard and was expected to open in August 1990.

The article highlights the entrepreneurial effort behind the
new commercial venture, with Stewart discussing his
experience in retail management and his goal of bringing
a high-quality, affordable fresh-produce and seafood
market to the Southside. The business was designed
as a DeKalb Farmer’s Market-style facility to serve the
growing needs of the surrounding southwest Atlanta
community.

The accompanying photograph features Atlanta City Councilman Jim Maddox welcoming the new business owners, William Stewart and Michael Bullard, and discussing the benefits of opening a business in the Southside.

This clipping provides a valuable historical record of Michael Bullard’s early involvement in commercial business ownership and the development of retail property in southwest Atlanta.
